Egypt:

I.  Vision and Purpose:

The mission work in Egypt was developed from a conviction that God was directing our church, Christian Covenant Community, to give ourselves to evangelize an un-reached people group.  After much prayer, God guided us to the Muslim world of the Middle-east, the areas known as Satan’s greatest stronghold against Christianity.  In Isaiah 19, we are told that God will cause a great end-time revival to break out in the countries of Egypt, Syria, and Iraq.  Our vision is to sow ourselves into these countries, starting with Egypt, the very center of Islamic learning and missionary training.  We feel, in a very real sense that the sowing of our lives into these countries will help prepare the way for God’s great end-time revival that is going to come to this geographic area.

II.  Brief History:

1991: Began compiling a list of Egyptian Nationals for possible contacts.

1992: Pastor Jesse Shingler and Dr. Grant Clark spent three weeks in Egypt and Israel.  Prior to entering Egypt, the time in Israel involved meeting with several Christian Jews and Arabs who were able to advise us on how to effectively minister in Egypt.  Once in Egypt, we met with different contacts in order to determine if any of them were men with whom we could build with.  We were looking for the following:

As a result, we are currently working with three brothers.

III.  Activities:

1993:

1994:

Pastor Jesse Shingler, along with his wife and oldest son, Jeremy, spent several weeks ministering in the underground churches in Egypt.  Also some ministry was conducted in Israel and Italy.  We were also able to bring an Egyptian pastor that we have been working with, to the US to enable him to attend a week long pastor’s conference and a time of strengthening our friendships.

IV.  5 Year Objectives, Goals, and Strategy:

We will make a difference; we will prepare the way for the last great revival!

Since that time other trips have been made.  We have had opportunities to minister in Jordan, as well as several areas around Israel.
